Renewing the Crew's Home at Sea: MORNING CRYSTAL and MORNING CATHERINE Interior Renovations Completed

Release Date:

2026-06-08

The interior renovation project undertaken by Haijing company for MORNING CRYSTAL and MORNING CATHERINE, two PCTC vessels, has recently been successfully completed. Centered on improving the long-term onboard working and living experience of crew members, the project systematically upgraded key areas including accommodation cabins, sanitary units, crew/officer lounges, and crew/officer mess rooms.

This renovation was not limited to replacing finishes. Within the constraints of the existing hull spaces, equipment interfaces, and operational requirements, the project comprehensively optimized functional layout, furniture systems, wall and floor finishes, lighting atmosphere, and ease of daily maintenance. The completed cabins now offer more complete functions, while the public areas are more comfortable and orderly, providing a higher-quality living environment at sea.

Cabin Upgrades Centered on Living Experience

For accommodation cabins, the project adopted differentiated renovation strategies based on the original conditions. Cabins without sanitary units were fully stripped out and reorganized before complete renovation and the addition of independent sanitary units, upgrading the cabins from basic accommodation into more complete living units. Cabins already equipped with sanitary units received targeted upgrades to furniture, flooring, and wall systems, improving comfort and visual consistency.

The renovated cabins use light-colored wall finishes, timber-toned furniture, and blue upholstered panels to create a clean and bright spatial tone. Beds, desks, wardrobes, storage cabinets, and other functional elements are arranged more clearly. Material selection balances durability and ease of cleaning for marine interior use, supporting both high-frequency daily use and later maintenance.

Newly Added Sanitary Units Complete Cabin Functions

Sanitary units were one of the key focuses of this renovation. For accommodation cabins originally without sanitary units, the new units significantly improve privacy and convenience for daily use; for cabins with existing sanitary units, equipment, finishes, and detail upgrades enhance the overall user experience.

Within limited space, the project team comprehensively considered washing, showering, toilet use, drainage, and inspection/maintenance needs, aiming to keep circulation clear, facilities compact, and maintenance convenient. The renovated sanitary units coordinate with cabin furniture and wall finishes, forming a more complete interior system.

Public Areas Renovated in Parallel

In addition to accommodation cabins, crew lounges, officer lounges, crew mess rooms, officer mess rooms, and other public areas were also renovated. These spaces support rest, communication, dining, and short breaks for crew members, and their comfort directly affects daily onboard living quality.

The public area upgrades combine seating, dining tables, storage cabinets, wall finishes, and lighting arrangements to improve spatial order and warmth. Lounge areas use softer furniture and lighting expression, while mess areas emphasize durability, ease of cleaning, and operational efficiency, making the public spaces better suited to long-term operation in both function and atmosphere.

Continuous Execution from Design to Delivery

Vessel interior renovation is often constrained by structural boundaries, piping and equipment conditions, construction windows, and onsite coordination. During implementation, Haijing team deepened the design around existing space conditions and coordinated demolition, substrate preparation, furniture installation, wall and floor renewal, sanitary unit configuration, and finishing details to ensure the design intent could be reliably delivered onsite.

The successful completion of MORNING CRYSTAL and MORNING CATHERINE demonstrates Haijings comprehensive capability in vessel accommodation renovation, public area renewal, and onsite project organization. In the future, Haijing will continue to provide high-quality, maintainable, and durable space renewal solutions for more vessels through professional marine interior design and engineering execution.
