CMHI233 5000T HEAVY LIFT CRANE VESSEL DELIVERY

On January 19th, 2023, CMHI233 heavy lift crane vessel, with the blessing of all the construction participant, slowly moved away from the pier in Haimen Merchants Heavy Industry. The ship is a 5000T heavy lift crane vessel, which is contracted by Nantong Haijing and owned by Jan De Nul, a famous Belgian marine engineering magnate.

In terms of technology, materials, construction and other aspects, this project adopts many new materials, new processes and new methods different from previous marine offshore projects. For example: the wall panel bottom profile structural glue fixing process, wooden furniture plywood chamfer process, raised floor using plywood + galvanized steel composite structure, the polyurethane flexible deck covering process.
As many materials and techniques were used for the first time, we did encounter a lot of setbacks and difficulties in the construction process. However, with the cooperation of all departments of Haijing and the full support of cooperative manufacturers, all of them finally won the recognition and praise of the owners.
Another feature of CMHI233 is that the proportion of imported materials reached 70%, including the main materials of the whole ship, such as insulation, deck covering, rubber flooring, furniture, as well as door locks, door closers, coat hooks, faucet and other hardware materials.
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak combined with the Russia-Ukraine war, the price of imported products has increased, and the freight has increased. There are great uncertainties in the production cycle and transportation voyage, thus affecting the arrival cycle of materials and the on-site production plan. At the same time, the quantity of materials ordered also needs to be controlled accurately, which can not cause inventory backlog, nor lack of impact on site construction.
For this reason, Haijing pays attention to imported materials, and tracks the ordering and transportation of materials every week to ensure the arrival of imported materials on time.
In terms of construction, under the joint efforts of the site supervisor and construction team, we organized the construction personnel in an orderly manner in strict accordance with various construction techniques, and actively cooperated with the owners and shipyards to complete major node plans. At the same time, strictly control the quality and safety, the whole construction period, no major safety violations, quality accidents. we have been praised by the shipyard and shipowners for many times, including twice by in quality control weekly report and once in safety weekly report.
