JDN 28,000-ton Cable-Laying Vessel 1# Successfully Launched

On October 21, 2025, the 28,000-ton cable-laying vessel "Fleeming Jenkin" (CMHI-296-1), built by China Merchants Heavy Industry (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd. for the world-leading dredging giant Jan De Nul Group from Belgian, was successfully launched in Haimen. This milestone marks the project's official entry into the final construction phase, encompassing critical stages such as equipment installation, quayside outfitting, system commissioning, and sea trials. The achievement also underscores the leading capabilities of China's shipbuilding industry in the global high-end vessel manufacturing sector.

The JDN 28,000-ton cable-laying vessel project has two vessels, represents another exemplary collaboration between JDN shipowner, BV Classification Society and China Merchants Industry Haimen Base, following the 5,000T heavy-lift vessel. With a total length of 215 meters, the vessel is equipped with three cable conveyor belts and one large optical fiber cable tray, capable of laying four cables simultaneously. The total cable carrying capacity reaches 28,000 tons, ranking first in the world in loading capacity. The vessel is capable of stable operations in both deep and shallow waters. Furthermore, it is fitted with methanol-ready dual-fuel main engines and a highly advanced dual exhaust filtration system. Compliant with the stringent European Stage V inland waterway standards and the Euro 6 nitrogen emissions standards, it stands as an advanced green vessel.

As the interior turn key contractor for this project’s accommodation package, Nantong Haijing Ship Decoration Co., Ltd., leveraging its professional expertise and service experience, has successfully completed the design tasks and material production with the strong support of both CMHI Haimen and owner JDN. The on-site construction has now entered its final sprint stage. The scope of the main outfitting contract is extensive, covering detailed design, AM 3D modeling, and production design. Following the launch of this project, Haijing will maintain its unwavering commitment to a professional and methodical work ethic, guided by our management philosophy of relentless pursuit of excellence. With the overarching project objectives as our compass, we will holistically balance safety, quality, and schedule.
