A Fresh New Look for the Home at Sea! The "Eagle of Venice" Living Quarters Renovation Project Successfully Completed

Recently, Zhoushan Yangjing Ship Engineering Co., Ltd. successfully completed the living quarters upgrade and renovation project for the VLCC ultra-large crude oil tanker "Eagle Venice" of Singapore's AET company at Zhoushan Wanbang Shipyard, fully completing all construction contents and acceptance work, and the project was officially and successfully completed.
Following the successful delivery of the PCTC series vessel retrofit project, Yangjing Company has further cooperated with Wanbang Shipyard and completed the accommodation block retrofit of the large VLCC tanker as scheduled. This renovation took improving crew members' living comfort, work experience, and quality of life during long-term onboard stays as its core objective, focused on core functional areas such as onboard living, leisure, and rest, and carried out systematic refurbishment, spatial layout optimization, and upgrading of supporting facilities. Through refined construction and standardized renovation, the crew living environment was comprehensively optimized, creating a refined, comfortable, fully functional, standard-compliant, and high-quality living space at sea for ocean-going crew members, further demonstrating Zhoushan Yangjing's comprehensive construction strength and professional service capabilities in the field of high-end ocean-going ship interior renovation.
The scope of this renovation precisely covered the ship's core public living areas, mainly including five major functional sections: the crew recreation room, officers' recreation room, crew dining room, officers' dining room, and the dedicated gym, achieving all-around quality improvement and upgrading of the living and leisure areas for both crew and officers. Compared with routine repair and renovation, this project abandoned the simple surface patching approach and adopted a systematic construction philosophy of "sort out first, then restructure, then renew," advancing layer by layer with meticulous workmanship to maximize the optimization of spatial layout and user experience.

In the early stage of construction, the project team completed the comprehensive demolition, debris clearance, and sorting out of the original spaces in all renovation areas. The original facilities, aging partition walls, and damaged flooring were thoroughly demolished and removed, the construction areas were cleared, and spatial circulation was organized. At the same time, in light of the daily work, leisure, dining, and fitness needs of ocean-going ship crew members, the spatial layout of each functional area was re-optimized so that usage scenarios better fit life needs.
During the main renovation construction phase, the project carried out all-around renewal and upgrading centered on three core modules: the furniture system, wall and floor system, and fitness system, with every detail finely polished. In the dining area, complete sets of standardized dining tables and chairs and other furniture equipment were newly replaced, wall and floor materials were updated, and the ceiling and lighting system were renovated, optimizing overall lighting and ventilation effects, effectively solving problems such as yellowing walls, worn floors, and outdated furniture in the original dining room, creating a clean, orderly, comfortable, and warm dining environment that meets the daily dining and small social gathering and rest needs of crew and officers.

In the renovation of the crew and officers' recreation room, the project specifically updated leisure supporting furniture, replaced old sofas, leisure tables and chairs, and storage cabinets, and reconditioned walls, floor coverings, and lighting equipment. This greatly improved the comfort and quietness of the leisure area, providing crew members with a high-quality space to relax, unwind, and relieve stress, effectively alleviating the fatigue of long-term ocean voyages.

As a key functional area of this renovation, the gym completed a comprehensive renewal and upgrade of the entire fitness system.
The construction team carried out professional renovation treatment of the gym's walls and floors, optimized equipment layout, and organized the exercise space. The brand-new fitness area is fully equipped and reasonably laid out, fully able to meet the daily physical training and exercise needs of crew members and officers, helping crew members maintain good physical and mental condition.

This living quarters renovation strictly followed ship interior construction standards and classification society regulations throughout the entire process, balancing practicality, safety, comfort, and durability. All selected materials used ship-specific materials that are waterproof, fireproof, corrosion-resistant, and resistant to turbulence, adapting to the complex sea conditions of ocean voyages. After the renovation was completed, the spatial layout of each functional area became more reasonable, functional supporting facilities became more complete, and the overall environment took on a completely new look, greatly enhancing the overall quality of the ship's living quarters, effectively optimizing the crew's working and living experience at sea, and laying a solid logistical support foundation for the ship's subsequent safe, stable, and efficient conduct of ocean-going missions.
